Thought of the Day

The difference between conservatives and liberals following an electoral defeat can be summed up accordingly: Liberals brood and make empty threats to leave the country; Conservatives brood and stock up on guns and munitions.

Huck

Can I quote you on this?

Personally, the economy has a lot more to do with my ammo-stocking decisions than do Presidential elections.

However, I'd be lying if I said I haven't wistfully daydreamed at time or two of protesting America's step to the left by moving to Ireland and enjoying their 12.5% corporate tax rates. Then I realized that they have a commie-care health system over there just like we are tying to create here, so what's the point?

*sigh*
(back to brooding now)

Don_cos - You can cite me anytime, anywhere.

Eric - Why is it the economy that drives you to cling to your guns? Do you fear you might have to hunt to put food on the table? Or do you think you need to fear desperate thieves breaking into your home? Or is it just a source of comfort in trying times? If it's a fear of thieves, would you have done the same under a tanking economy under a GOP administration? Seems to me that the decision to stock up on the guns and ammo has to do not just with a faltering economy, but a faltering economy with a Democrat at the helm of government. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Both are good reasons. We haven't seen a true longstanding economic catastrophe in a long time, and the last one we saw came along at a time when Americans were much more self sufficient than they are today. If it ever happens again, the fuel and food supply channels could very well become disrupted, and it will be good to have plenty of ammo for both of the reasons you mentioned.

Absolutely, in fact I did stock up last month, well before the election. I do not think people who are starving and desperate give much thought to political parties when they decide to break into a house in search of food.
