Immigration Forum Reminder

Jimmy, Congratulations on an extremely informative and successful forum. Every panelist had interesting, informative and qualitative information that contributed to the conversation on how ill-conceived these bills are.

Yeah, Eric, I have to say that it did tip more heavily in one direction (and maybe you were right that the cost of my being so outspoken on the issue conditioned this); but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it was one-sided. People got out of the panel what they wanted to get out of it. But I do think that there was enough balance, on the panel itself and in the Q&A session, to think of the event as educational and informational, and even somewhat apolitical. We did hear some of what the arguments were in favor of the bills, and we also heard some about the need to focus on the problems in sending countries. But, frankly, I wish we had heard more of this side of the debate. Nevertheless, I do think that it was an academically oriented event as opposed to a political rally or an advocacy event.
